Gems in different colors

Wow! There is a lot to these standards! It can be a bit intimidating. So let’s mine the Common Core Standards to make them “mine.” In this website each standard will be separated into specific skills and concepts and you will be able to  find some activities to teach and practice the skills. We’ll start with the 6th grade standards – what to teach in 6th grade and how the standard flows through the other grades.

I have twenty years of classroom experience and nine years actively involved with curriculum consortiums. My master’s program focused on teaching middle school math to the standards through a wide range of activities and lessons. My bachelor’s degree is in math with a minor in elementary education. I taught all grades pre-k through 12 and adult education with about two-thirds of my experience in elementary level multi-grade classrooms. After completing my master’s, I focused on 6-12th-grade math. Now I am developing this website to provide resources and information to help other teachers.

The website will have a copy of all the Common Core Standards with links to resources and detailed break-downs of each standard.
